What is a creative Mommy to do when she wants to pretty up a table for Fall and there’s a toddler with a penchant for yanking tablecloths off of the table in the house?
Grab some scissors (not for the toddler, of course!), some burlap and another bit of fabric in a Fall-inspired color. That’s it…no sewing required! Well, unless you just gotta…

Making sure that little fingers were safely out of the way, I laid my burlap fabric out on my table and put my pinking shears to work. I cut it to a length that stopped a few inches short of the table’s edge. Next, I trimmed the finished edge off of the burlap to give it a more rustic feel.

To keep the rustic feel going, I further frayed the ends by pulling away extra strands. I kept those strands, by the way. I never know when they might come in handy in another creation!

Finally, I took my orange fabric and folded it. That’s right, I folded it! I cleaned up the edges a bit with my handy pinking shears, but that was it. If the fabric had been extremely wrinkled, I would have taken and iron to it but, thankfully, there was no need.

For now, it’s topped with one of my painted grapevine wreaths and a little porcelain birdie. In a few weeks a pumpkin will probably grace the spot where the birdie is now. I like that this is versatile…I may even add another strip of patterned fabric or ribbon on top to jazz it up a bit.
So there you have it, a no-sew Fall table topper that won’t attract the attention of curious toddlers! Also, if I remember correctly, the cost was less than $5.00.
