Sunday and Spray Paint

I had a few moments to myself on Sunday afternoon.  The fellas in my house were all otherwise occupied and I found myself itchy to spray paint something….don’t get nervous!  No kids were painted!

Nope.  Just a regular, old grapevine wreath from my living room.

I’ve always had an affection for grapevine wreaths.  My mom and I used to make them from the cuttings of my Nana and G-daddy’s vine that they had in their garden.  It was messy fun for my mom and me.  She’d dress up the results with flowers and ribbons…some destined for gifts and others to grace our home.

While I love the organic shape and texture of a traditional grapevine wreath, I wanted something a little different to go in our living room.  The room needs some lightening up.  I figured I’d give it a try since I already had both the wreath and the spray paint on hand…free decor, y’all!

I haven’t quite decided how to bedeck my newly painted wreath.  Any ideas?

Commissioned with Love

.

This piece is a commissioned work for my Dad. He wanted a larger piece with a butterfly and the word “sing” included. Everything else, he left up to me.

With Dad being a musician and singer, including some of my vintage sheet music was a no-brainer. I had fun layering different washes and spatters of paint on the background. A lot of fun…I guess that’s the fun of working with a larger canvas! The butterfly and sing came next and now all that’s left is for me to finish painting the sides black.

So here it is, Daddy! I hope it makes you smile whenever you look at it!

Anna K. Originals~ New site, New Art

I’m sitting here looking at this fancy, schmancy WP dashboard and I’m just barely keeping myself from breaking out in girly giggles.  Anna K. Originals is live, y’all!

I’m so glad Darcy encouraged me to create my own icons and background.  Even bits and pieces of the header are hand made.  I was very nervous about how the pieces would translate into the digital world but Darcy was right…they came out pretty cool!

Initially, I thought that I wanted to morph Everyday Occasions over into Anna K. Originals (or AKO as I think of it).  Everyday Occasions, however, has such a special place in my heart that I just couldn’t let it go.  So, I will have them both.  Will they overlap?  Of course, baby!  Life and art so often do.  I like to think that when they mix and mingle, beautiful results are soon to follow…

So welcome and feel free to explore!

A very big thank you to my fabulous designer, Darcy from Graphically Designing.  Honey, you’re amazing!
